TENDERS FOR MATERIALS.

T. AND S. MORRIN AND CO.'S

TENDER ACCEPTED.

Last evening, a special meeting of the Devonport Borough Council was held in the Council Chambers, North Shore, with reference to the tenders for No. 1 contract in connection with the waterworks scheme. There were present: Messrs E. W. Alison (Mayor), M. Niccol, P. H. Mason, 0. Mays, Hammond, Lankham, W. Avenel, The tenders with schedules were published in last evening's Star. The engineer's extended estimates of the total coet of each tender for pipes, special castings, valves, fittings and materials, according to schedule, were as follows : — T. and S. Morrin and Co., £5,356; John Burns and Co., £5,919 ; E. Porter and Co., £6,011 ; Roea and Ansenne, £6,281; Wingate and Co., £6,409; Burns, Philips and Co. (Sydney), £6,702.

The tender of Messrs T. and S. Morrin and Co., being the lowesb, was accepted. The supplies of material, etc, will be ordered at once from England, and the work will be commenced in aboub three months, after tenders for the work of laying the pipes, etc, have been called.
