WELLINGTON DRAINAGE.
(BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.)
Wellington, this day. A complication of au unpleasant nature has arisen with reference to the drainage scheme of the city, aud threatens to block in carrying out of tho undertaking on the manner proposed in the engineer's plan. Tho intention was to carry the sewage to the eastward of Island Bay, where ib is believed it would be immediately carried out into deep water, and so out to sea, bub Dr. Lemon, Superintendent of Telegraphs, now steps in on the Ecene, and declares that the sewage will injuriously afl'ecb the Straits cable, and he has gone so far as to have a Bill prepared prohibiting the Corporation discharging sewage into Cooks Straits eastward of Island Bay. A copy of this Bill has been sent to the Mayor, who is by no moans pleased with it, as the passing of such an Act would completely alter bhe general character and scope of the proposed drainage system.
