MASONIC.
The installation of the master and officers of Lodge Remuera, E.C., took place on June 12, when about 50 members were present, including 18 past masters. Amongst those present were Bro. G. S. Graham, D.G.M., and the officers of the Grand Lodge, E.C., also Bro. W. McCullough, G.D.M.G., and the officers of the Grand Lodge, S.C. The 1.P.M., Bro. C. La Roch, performed the duties of Installing Master very creditably. The W.M. for the ensuing year is Bro. W. Morgan, late Mayor of Newmarket. The following are tho principal officers, who were duly invested by the W.M. Bro. McCullough, S.W., Bro. Hudson, J.W., Bro. Pine, S.D., Bro. Grant, J.D., Bro. W. F. Skoat, treasurer ; Bro. Loveday, secretary; and Bro. Kent, IG. When the business was concluded, the brethren did justice to an excellent Cold collation, and an hour or two was spent socially. A large gathering cf brethren of the craft was held on June 5 in the Masonic Hall, Priuces-streeb, the occasion being the 51sb installation and invesbure of officers. Seventy-five brethren were presenb, including twenty-five Past Masters. Bro. W. J. Rees and the officers of tho Provincial Grand Lodgo, 1.C., and Bro. G. S. Graham, with the officers of the District Grand Lodge, E.G., attended, and representatives were present from all recognised lodges. In the absence of the W.M. the duties of Installing Master devolved upon Bro. W. P. Moat, P.M. The W.M. elect, Bro. Francis John Whittaker, was presented by the two Grand Masters, after which a Board of Installed Masters was formed, and Bro. Whittaker was duly placed in tho chair as Worshipful Master of tho Premier Lodge of New Zealand. He then duly invested the following officers who had been elected unopposed :—S.W., Bro. C. Arnold; J.W., Bro. G. Gribbin : Chaplain, Bro. Rev. Dr. Kidd, P.M.; Treasurer, Bro. A. Wright, P.M. ; Secretary, Bro. A. Brock, P.M. ; S.D., Bro. W. Bloomtield ; J.D., Bro. E. R, Piggott; 1.G., Bro. H. G. Oxenham ; D. of C, Bro. J. R. Hanna, P.M. ; Organist, Bro. J. H.Phiilpob; S.S., Bro. E. H. Bagley; J.S., Bro. Thos. King; Tyler, Bro. Captain Tonge. After the presentation of working tools, the usual congratulations were received, and the brethren then adjourned to the lowsr hall, where an excellent banquet bad bßen prepared by Bro. King. The customary toasts wero duly honoured, and a few hours were spent socially, speeches and songs being delivered by various brethren. Bros. Pirie and Phillpot presided at the organ and pianoforte throughout the evening.
