ROUGH ON RATS.

Timaru, this day. In the Supremo Court to-day there were four criminal cases. AH were returned "true bills." Referring to a case of causing Rough on Rats to be taken, Judge Donniston suggested that the Grand Jury should make & presentment against the dangerous freedom with which arsenic in that form is bought and sold. Tho jury thought it useless, as-arsenic can be bought at wholesale stores by the cwli, and no questions asked. W. Williama pleaded guilty to killing a sheep with intent to steal the skin, and being an old offender, he was sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment, T. Cook pleaded guilty to housebreaking and larceny, and waa sentenced to 9 months' imprisonment.
