CHARITABLE AID BOARD.
TnE ordinary fortnightly meeting of tho above Board was held at 2 p.m. yesterday, when there were present: Messrs John .Bollard (acting chairman), J. Gordon, A. Glover, J. Swale?, J. ivicCabe, Bruce, Ambury and Holland. The chairman reported that Mr Dienon ffa3 a little better, bat still noli able to .get up. Accounts. —Tho secretary submitted the financial statement, which showed tfio present overdraft to bo £1,37914s lid, and the outstanding accounts amounted to £776 Saßd. CONSRTETJ7IO.N-s.—Tho Board decided, on tho motion of Mr Gordon, to forward to the Colonial Secretary a list of bodies that hnti not paid their contributions to tho Charitable Aid Board, also to request that the amount forwarded bo stopped oub oi the eubskly duo to local bodie?. . A Sad Ca;se.—The chairman mentioned tho caVo of 'an infant being born in tho Lunatic A.fvitim. I* was taken by fist; Board and Pent to nurw. Tho father was reported to be in the Waifcato, bur, was not in permanent employ. We had five other Children to keep whoso ajjos ranged from two to ten yoare. HoNor.AKV Staff.—The chairman reported that Drs. (,'irdlor, Lawry and Purcbas retired from the honorary medical Stall', but were eligible fur ro election. Dr. Jvowry waa pre.»ont, nnd suggested that other medical mon micht wish to take up tho work. Tho Board, however, decided to re-elect tho threo gentloinen named. _ House Surgeon.—The Board decided to appoint Dr. Gain, of Wellington, to tho position of House Surgeon at the Auckland Hospital. Nmsss' CKETii'iCATns.— It was Ggreod to issue certificates to the following nurses who havo passed the senior examinations: —Colvort, Poster, Gillard, Johnson. The following probationers passed tho junior examination i-Wuraea Anderson, Do Montalk, Grave, Margetts, Mincham, and Bake. Costlet Hojik.— Tho manager reported that there wore. 114 noon and 37 women at presont in tho Homo. Mr Moss also reported that ona of the inmates had asaaultcd two others. It was resolved to lay a charge against the orlenaer. Tenders.— Tho following tenders were received for supplies:—'Grooories, R. Row ; bread, T. TenVdale, 1 23-32nda d. por Ib; meat, R. and VV. Hollaby, 3d per lb, fowls, Jh 9d each ; <5. ilaikfl was tho lowest tenderer at S-Jcl por lb for meat, and Is 7d ench for fowls. Heliaby Bros,, however, forwarded a nota to tho effeob that by a clerical error in their tender an allowance of 10 per cont. for bone had bean otnitced. Millc, J. Filkington, 6d per gallon, for cream, 4d por pint: coal. <3. J. Craig, 20s 8d per ton for'Tanpiri, 18s 11(1 WaiUato, and 26s 9d for Newcastle ; iirowood, Airs Hodgson, 0s 4d for long and 10s ior cut.
