OUR VOLUNTEERS.
PRESENTATION OF CLARK'S BELT. The Victoria and Newton Riflo corps issembled in bhe Drill-shed last night and | underwenb inspecbion at the hands of Adjutant - Lieutenant Grant, SergeantMajor Scully beng also in atbendance. Captain Robertson was in command of the Nowtons and Lieubenanbs Skinner and Kearney of the Victorias. Opportunity was taken by Adjutant Grant to present the Clark District Champion Belt to Volunteer T. Fairs, of the Victoria Company. In making the presentatioo tho Adjutant expressed the ploasure he felo to presents., handsome a belt to one of tbe most consistenb shots in the district. He hoped that Mr Fairs would long continue in bhe company, which was justly proud of him. As this is the third time bbab Vol. Fairs has won the belt, ib is now his own property. Upon falling again into tie ranks, the win -er was greeted with cheers by his comrades. Ten new members of the Victorias wero elected. Tho inspection parade of the Engineers takes place to-night. The Garrison Band will bo in attendance. Owing to tho resignation of Lieut. Durham, consequent upon his school duties in the country, tho Newton Rifles have been for some time withoub their complement of officers. Wo understand that the remaining lieutenant, Mr Watson, has applied for a transfer to the Ponsonby Navals, leaviug thus in tho Nowton two vacancies to ba filled.
