AUCKLAND AMATEUR OPERA CLUB.
(To the Editor.)
Sik,—As an old member of the Club, 1 read with interest the report of the annual meeting in your Thursday's issue, and in glancing over the balance-sheet I wiis a litcie surprisod at the extraordinary liberality of the Club towards tho gentleman, whom I see still styles himself Hon. Secretary. Bub I was more than surprised to find no recognition, or even mention of the services of Mr Taylor, whose resignation was, I understand, received at the same time a? that of the Hon. Secretary. Mr Taylor was one of the mainstays of the Club years before Mr Chambers'name was ever heard of in matter? operatic, and it certainly seems to me that the services of the latter sink into comparative insignificance, both in quantity and quality, compared with those rendered to the Club by Mr Tayler. Why then is the one handsomely remunerated, and the other entirely overlooked. Truly tho ways of the Amateur Opera Club are past finding out.—l am, etc., Old Member.
