MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS.
Try Fluke. —Tbe mine manager writes that the drive ou the main reef at No. 2 level has been extended 12ft, and is now lOOfb north trom crosscut. There are dow 50ft to drive to reach the Carbine portion of the mine. Tho reef 13 from 6ft to 3ft thick and carries a little gold. At No. 3 level tho drive on No. 2 lode has been extended north from the winze about 10ft. ' The lode is from 18 inches to 2ft thick and occasionally gives fair prospect;?. The leading stops from the bottom of tbe winze has been extended south 30ft. The lode varies in size from lfb to 2fb thick ; the whole of this ore is being; sent to the mill. In the leading stope going north the lode is about the same in size and quality as that in the south Btopes, and is all being- crushed at the mill. The cyanide plant is working as usual. There is on hand from the plates 2150z of amalgam. Mariposa.—The mine manager writes that he put through 18 tonß of ore for Bozs retorted'gold. The battery is shut down, and he is now pushing on No. 1 level north. Tho reef it 7fo wide, and showing a little gold by pounding. Red Mercury.—The mine manager writes that he has put through another trial crushing from the Try Fluke reef of 25 tons, and will retort on Monday (to.day). It is anticipated the result of the crushing will bo about the same as the last, about 30dwt8 to the ton.
Gbeat Mercury.—The mine manager writes that lie has been overhauling the battery, and everything will be ready to starb working the mine again shortly. Bazelbank.—The mine manager writes thab Darby's lead ia the winze that is being sunk from the intermediate level, still maintains its size and promising appearance. The quartz is carrying a considerable quantity of mineral, amongst; which gold was freely seen last time ib was broken down. The gas has been troublesome, and ib will be necessary to put boxes in to convey air down before sinking any further. The leading stope on the cros3 reef eastward of the winze is still being carried forward at No. 2 intermediate. The reef is 10 inches in thickness, and a little gold is seen in breaking it out. A fair amount of crushing dirt is being obtained from the stopes on Darby's. Above the intenne'iiute level gold has bean freoly seen in the quartz broken out of the different) stopes, and 18 pounds of picked stone has coma to hand from here during tho week. Crushing will be commenced to-morrow or on Wednesday. New Moanataiaei.—The mine manager writes that tho subsidence of the large section of the ground which took place in the beginning of the week in the workings in the Golden Age and Reuben Parr sections of the mine has now almoab ceased. Ho hopes to be able to resume operations to-day (Monday) with a reduced staff of men. There will be a large amount of re-timbering to be done, as all the timber in the drives on the cross lead and the levels westward had been crushed and broken*
