BANK OFFICIALS SURPRISED
ASSISTANCE HAD NOT BEEN
ASKED,
London, April 21. The London office ot the Australian Joint Stock Bank was surprised to learn through newspapers of the suspension of the institution, as its officers here knew of nothing to induce fear.
A recent cable to Sydney from the London office stated that" the latter was in a position to assisb, bub assistance has not been asked.
