A woman named Margaret Gorr, who was arrested on a charge of setting fire to her house in Madras-street, North Christchurch, has been committed for trial. The house wa3 insured in the New Zealand office for £150.

Smith, charged with the murder of Jacobson at Pahiatua, was discharged on April Bth, after two months' incarceration, the Court being of opinion that a prima facie case had nob been established. No one could identify bhe bones produced, and, on all poinbs bhe case broke down. Mr Jellicoe asked bhab the accused be discharged without a stain on his character, bub His Worship declined to say anything of tho kind ; the charge of larceny againsb him, however, was nob proceeded with.
