ALLEGED LARCENY.
At t^e Police Court this afternoon, before Dr Giles, a youth named William David Hunter waa charged that on the 18th April at One Tree Hill he did steal, take and carry away one silver watch chain, one pipe and case, cf the total value of £1 7s 6d, the property of Arthur Jamoa Heighten. Accused admitted the offence. He waa also charged with stealing on the same date at One Tree Hill, one silver watch and chain of the total value of £5 12s 6d, the property of Samuel Mitchell. The evidence of Samuel Mitchell went ro chow that him. elf and accused wore in the employ of Wood Bros., milkmen, at One Tree Hill, up to the 14th April. Accused was discharged on thab day. Witness at this stage admitted stealing the watch, but nob the chain. Detective Cbrystal deposed to atwrting the accused. In answer to Dr. Giles he eaid be did nob intend to take tho watch for the purpose of stealing it. Accused waa committed to take his trial at the next sittings-of the Supreme Court on the first charge, and tor the charge of stealing thfpipe and chain to which he pleaded guilty, was sentenced to _ inoaths imprisonment.
