BOARD OF EDUCATION.
The Executive Committee of the Board of Education met this morning ab half-past ten. There were present:—Mr R. Udy (Chairman), and Messrs Luke, Muir, Grant, Wilding, and Cooper.
Mangapai.—The tender of Mr Sloane for rooting No. 2 school was accepted. Text Book in Science.—A lofcter was read from Messrs Giles and Baxter in reference to the difficulty of obtaining copies of the text book in science prescribed for pupil teachers' examination. —lb was resolved to reply thab the Committee could not alter the subjecb of examination, and thab the examiner would not inquire what particular kind of text book had been used.
Teachers. — The adjustment of beadteachers' salaries was gone through by the Committee. The reports of head-teachers on their teaching staff was read. ,In several unsatisfactory reports it was decided to send a letter of warning. Twelve pupil teachers were removed to country schools.
Salary Committee.—This Committee met this afternoon and went into a proposed salary scheme.
