SAVAGE ASSAULT POLICEMAN.
TWO MONTHS' HARD LABOUR.

Thames, this day. Constable Bern was savagely assaulted last night whilst attempting to arrest a young man named Samuel Qundri for drunkenness. The latter set upon him and kicked him on the nose, smashing it, and also struck him on the back of the head and stunned him. Quadri was arrested this morning, and was sentenced to two months' hard labour in Mount Eden gaol.
