Three or four pieces of stone were obtained lasb night, showing- coarse gold, and bhe mineral indications are equal to those in the winze that was started ab the Whau level. The manager adds, " I feel sure that when I get started to drive both ways picked stone will b« obtained. I have had a survey made, and find bbab the 70 feet crosß-cut is 10 feet to the west of the cross-cat at the Whau level, and the head that I have driven the cross-cub on at the 70 feeb lovel I am now convinced is nob the Whau level break, and if it hue kept the same underlay to the east as above that there will be fully 20 feeb yeb to be driven eait before the break ia met, so tha.b I feel sure this now ie Dixon'e reef, and thab the junction with Christy's dropper in still to our wesb. I will now starb openvng out both ways on the reef, and also intend in a day or bwo to/ commence operations in the winze, as the water appears to be slightly decreasing.
