PRIMITIVE METHODIST ASSEMBLY.

Asiiburton, this day. The twenty-first annual district assembly of the Primitive Methodist Church in New Zealand opened yesterday. Forty-six delegates were present from all parts of the colony. Tho election of officers took placo in tho afternoon as follows: —President, Rev. James Guy; vice-president, Mr Thomas J. Booth; secretary, Rev. W, Woollaas; assistant secretary, Mr B. Belringer. The address of tho retiring president was read, and its consideration deferred. Tho new president's address was a resume of business of tho church. A quantity of business was transacted. Tho session will extend to January 19. SUDDEN DEATH OF A MEMBER. Chas. Feltham, of Newfcowu (Wellington), a delegate to tho Primitive Methodist Conference, died suddenly on rising from breakfast. He broke a blood-vessel and died in a fow minutes. The deceased had been unwell, and was staying at Temuka for some weeks for his health. Ho leaves a wife and family. At the Conference, after devotions the Presidenb announced Mr Feltham's death, and after a tributo to the character of the departed brother, ib was resolved to telegraph sympathy to the family. The Conference adjourned to tho afternoon. A medical certificate has been given and no inquest will bo held.
