SERIOUS ACCIDENT AT THE THAMES.

(BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.

Thames, this day. A miner named Thomas Gentles, employed in the Alburnia mine, met with a serious accident last night. He was working with a mate named John McDonald at the 70-Cb level They charged two holes, and ignited the fuse attached, bub only one shot went off. They waited over an hour, but, as no other explosion took place they proceeded to the face where tho other charge went off. Gentles was struck on the head by a largo piece of rock. He has several cuts on the head, one being three inchea lone, and his skull is fractured. He is conscious and doing as well as can be expected, but his condition is somewhat critical.
