Considerable excitement was caused in front of the town clock this afternoon by! the behaviour of a young horse attached to one of Messrs Pullan and Arniitage's Parnell buaseß. It became restive when near Fortstreet and refused to proceed, notwithstanding tho persuasive stimulation of the whip. At last it began to plunge and rear, with the result that it got badly entangled in the traces. The police then interfered f and advised the horse's removal from the j bus. A large crowd now collected on the sidewalk to watch the proceedings, and when the animal was released it still refused to budge. Some one struck it again,, which caused the horse to jerk its head free and bolt towards the footpath. Fortunately ib bumped against a verandah post and made for the road again ■ where it was caught. Although the people quickly got out of the way, bad the'horse reached the path a serious accident would ;nevitably have occurred.
