SATURDAY'S MATCHES,

Our knights of the willow were again favoured with " Queen's" weather on Sb*arday for indulging in their pastime. A large number of spectators were present. The wickets were in fairly pood order, and favoured the batsmen. Most interest wa3 centred in the game between Parnell v. United, which was commenced in the Domain on Saturday, considerable interest being centred in the match. United won the toss, and elected to bat in a very fair wicket. The Parnell bowlers were in very good form, as shown by the result of the first hour's play only totalling 12 runs. Later in the innings, however, Sternson (31) and Miller (—) got together, and livened things up a bit, putting in 50 runs before being separated. Tha balance of the team offered very little resistance, and the innings closed for 116. The fielding of the Parnellites was fairly good. The interprovincial match between Wellington and Hawke's Bay on Saturday ended in the former, winning by 42 runs. For Wellington Fuller played a Bplendid innings for 56; Firth (14), Izard (13) and "ynyard (13) also getting into double figures. V\ hen Hawke's Bay went to the wickets they had to get 127 to win, but they scored only 85. Fitznmmons had the best average with five wickots for 39. Taiaroa (24), Williams (16) and Smith (15 not out) were the top scorers.
