(by telegraph.—i>ekss association.)

Tho Hon. Mr. Ward has informed tho Postmaator-Gonoral of New South Wales that Now Zealand ia paying tho contractors to tho 'Frisco Sorvico about £7,000 a year, in addition to £6,000 lor American and Atlantic transit. Ho estimates New South Wales is at present contributing at tho rate of £2,000 per annum only, and other contracting colonies proportionately. The colonies particularly interested are New South Wales and New Zealand, deriving as they do the greatest benefits from tho Bervico. As New Zealand's total payment largoly exceeds the amount paid by New South Wales, while tho latter colony also obtains the advantago of being tho terminal port. Now Zonland cannot pay moro than Bho is doing. Now South Wales is only asked to increase her contribution to koop the service running. • Mr Ward adds that ho would rogrot exceedingly should tho eervico bo abandoned, and expresses the hope that a similar feeling is also *harod by Mr Kidd. This is tho: message referred to in to-day's cable.
