MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS,
Hazelbank. —The manager reports that the leader east at the intermediate level is getting more definite, and the quartz contains mineral favourable for gold. Gold bas been freely seen in the leading stope over No. 1 level. The leader varies from 6 inches to one foot in thickness. In the second stope there was 15 inches of crushing dirt, and ib was from here that the 301b of picked stone was obtained. Since then 61b more bas been secured. The leader still looks well for gold, and from its appearance specimens might be expected any bime. A third stope has been started. Above this bhe cross reef and Darby's loader are intact. Mariposa.—The manager reporbs thab quartz is still being stripped ab the north end of No. 2 level. Fair prospects are obtained wherever the reof is tapped.
Rkd Mercury.—The manager reports thab the mine throughout is looking well, and shaping for a good return ab the battery. There are on hand 4440z of hotwater amalgam from 112 tons. This doeß nob include pans or settlers. The manager expects to start crushing again on Wednesday. Great Mercury.—The manager reports that at the bottom level the. Try Fluke reef is 8 feeb wide of crushing dirt. In the leading stope ib is 3 feeb wide. At the intermediate level the formation is 8 feewide and carries a iitble gold throughout. The stopes on the eastern branch of the Red • Mercury reef are looking well. The amalgam fioni the battery is keeping :; good average. Alburnia.—The Chairman of directors telegraphed this morning : " Directors visited tlie mine this morning. Reef, looking well; gold,showing in several places. Will not break down until Wednesday or Thursday. Start crushing this week." Owera.—The manager rejjor.3 that the block now being sloped is 50ft in length, and is coming near tbe surface. The south end of thia block produces good crushing dirt, aud occasionally a few pounds of picked, with pockets of loose free gold are meb wibh. This is also saved as picked dirt. At the intermediate level the reef givqs good prospects from the hanging wall 18 iachos in width.
