AUCKLAND V. TARANAKI.
The Selection Committee of the Rugby Union, Messrs Dixon, Arneil, and Speight, met this afternoon, and picked the following fifteen to represent Auckland against Taranaki on Saburday next: —Back, F. Taylor; three-quarters, R. Masefield, F. Peace, F. M. Jervis; halves, W. Elliott, A. Braund, W. Rhodes; forwards, Murray, Marshall, Bruce, O'Connor, Montgomerie, McMillan, Pennalligen, and D. Stewarb. AUCKLAND V. WAIKATO. The following players are requested to continue training in view of the mabch againsb Waikabo ab Hamilbon on Augusb 13bh, and are requested to inform the Selection Committee by Saturday next if they are able to play. The team will leave Auckland on Friday morning, the 12th, returning on Monday ab 2.30 p.m.: Stitchbury, Walton, Roberts, Riley, Branson, Gaudin, Kissling, Brady, Edmonds, Ronayne, Whiteside, Tanfield, Twiname, Donald, Cole, Dacre, Inglis, Williams, Maynard, Stone, R. Green, Speight, Wright, Caulton, Mills, Rogers, and J. Walker.
The members of the Taranaki team are making the most of their short stay hare. They are experiencing the most delightful weather, and should certainly take away a good impression of our city and scenery. They viewed the beauties of Lake Takapuna yesterday afternoon, being driven oub there by tho Rugby Union officials. This morning the team paid a visit to the flagship Orlando in the steam launch Beatrice, and made a minute inspection of the big war vessel. They were very courteously received by the officers, who also accompanied them on the tour of inspection. A practice match was indulged in this afternoon, and to-morrow the team leaves for the Thames to try conclusions with Auckland's late opponents.
