PONSONBY NAVAL ARTILLERY.

The above corps fired their first match in the annual competition for Mr Peacock's medal on Saturday. The scoring was not as good as usual, on accounb of bhe match being sbarbed ab 500 yds, the men being allowed no sighters, and most of the first shots missing the target. The following were the principal scorers:—P.O. Jno. Ewan, 68 ; P.O. G. E. Spinley, 64 ; Gunner F. Martin, 54; P.O. Jno. Spinley, 50. Lieutenant Graham was in charge.

"A" BATTERY,

On Saturday afternoon a competition took place ab bhe Mounb Eden Range bebween members of the " A " Battery for a prize presented by Mrs Geddes to bachelors, and also for one presented to the married men by Captain Geddes. The single men won by 65 points. The following are the nine highest scores on each side :—

Mrs Geddes' Prize.—Sergeant Doughty, 75 ; Sergeanb Kearsley, 74; Gunner McCallum, 72; Gunner Henderson, 70; Bombardier Browne, 70; Gunner Greenshields, 66 ; Corporal Hazard, 60 ; Quartermaster Lipscombe, 59 ; Gunner Head, 55. Captain Geddes' Prize. — Corporal Webster, 73; Gunner J. G. Buchanan, 70 ; Gunner Grant, 67 ; Sergeanb Parslow, 64; Gunner Wallace, 60 ; Gunner Taylor, 56; Gunner E. Buchanan, 54; Gunner Neddrie, 52 ; Captain Geddes, 38. DAYLIGHT PARADE. The Infantry Companies held a daylight parade at the Drill-shed on Saturday afternoon, but there were only sufficient on parade to form two companies. The following companies were represented: — Engineers, under Major Anderson ; Victoria Rifles, under Captain Somers and Lieutenant Skinner ; City Guards, under Lieutenants Dormer and Montgomery ; Newton Rifles, under Captain Robertson and Lieutenant Watson. After inspection the companies were marched, headed by the Garrison Band (under Bandmaster Hunter) to the Metropolitan Ground, and put through a course of skirmishing and battalion drill by Lieut.
