ST. JOHN AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION.
The first of a series of weekly lectures m . connection with the newly formed St. John Ambulance Association was given last evening in the Young Men's Christian Association Booms, Albert-street. There was a very good attendance, 42 ladies and 29 gentlemen being present. Tbe lecturers for the evening were Drs. Lowis and Dawson, the former addressing the ladies m the upstairs room, and the latter, the pentlemen,;in the Social Hall. Tbe subject taken was the same in both cases, and was on the body, its structure, and the laws ot inspiration and respiration of the air, and the circulation of the blood. The lectures concluded with some practical lessons m the system of bandages. ■■ In connection with the ladies' studies, ib v^;Snnou_*ce,d"previously thab.:ibey,woul_ have to wait twelve months before &&&$ tificate of proficiency as nurses would be granted, but they will naw be ablo to take jip nursing this year, provided they paw the Qrßt stage in the examination. Alia lectures will be continued on the four sue* ces&ir^ Tuesdays at tbe V.M.C.A.
