£150,000 TO BE BORROWED.

Wellington, this day. A special Bill will bo introduced next session by the City Council, empowering them to borrow £130,000 for drainage, £1:2,000 for tho re-payment ot overdraft, £13,000 for bathe and recreaton ground, also a further sum of £25,000 for drainage if necessary. The hospital trustees have given up tho intention of raising £6,000 for additions to the building from rate 3 and will make cchor arrangements for obtaining money. HEAVY RAIN. Four and a-quartcr inches of rain have fallen this week. HANDBOOK OF THE COLONY. The Government intend to bring out a band-book of tho colony on the linos of Haytor'a publication before Parliament moots. Mr Yon Dacleizscu, Registrar General, will have charge.
