Tht Conference adopted ti recommendution to tho eflect that in it= opinion thoreshould beonly one taking body in each county where tho Counties Act is in operation. Another recommendation framed by a subcommittee regarding tho Public Works Ace for power to enable local bodies to make trifling road deviations, and affirming the desirability of amending the compensation clause. o - was abo adopted by the meeting. Tho committee of North Auckland delegates appointed to consider the kauri gum question, reported recommending that in view of the large contributions to the consolidated revenue by the kauri gum and timber industries and the non-contribution to local bodies by these industries, that the Government should make provision for assisting in the maintenance of the roads North of Auckland, and that a gum duty be levied, the amount thua collected to go to the County Councils. The Committee further recommended that the Northern railway should be extended from Makarau to Kaipara Flats, a distance of twelve mile?. The report was adopted. During the afternoon, the Conference considered the Local Authorities Accounts and Audit Bill at considerable length, with a view to possible amendr.nent. Some are good, others are better, but the best of all are Arthur Nathan's Reliable Teas, at 2d and 2s 6d per lb. Money can's buy better.— (Advt.) i
