The Caledonian Society were not very fortunate in the woathor yesterday, and their sports, instead of being held at Lake Tukapuna as was originally arranged,eventuated at the Devon port racecourse. A strong northerly breeze which was blowing would have made the Lake trip by steamer very unpleasant, and the change of scene was wisely decided upon. The rain held off during the day, except for very light showers late in the afternoon, and about two thousand people were attracted to tho grounds. Tho grandstand wasciowded, and elsewhere on tho hill thero were gathored many interested groups of spectators. The dampness of the atmosphero did not seem to damp the ardour of tho Committee or the eagerness of the competitors, and the sports passed oil' very successfully. Excellent mu3ic was provided during the day by Mr A. R. Hunter's band. The following are the rosults of tho various events :— Baqi'lFK Music (reels and strathspeys). A. McCrae, 1; J. S. Best - dressed Highland Lassie.—Miss McKeown, 1 ; Miss Goldie, 2. Grand Highland Reel (men). — D. Simpson, 1; A. McLean, 2. Running High Jump.—Minnock, 4ft lOin, 1; Kelly, 2. Wrestling (Cumberland).-— Sbillwell, 1; Pearson, 2. Bagpipe Music (pibrochs and marches). —A. McCrae, 1; J. S. Fotheringham, 2. Tossing the Caber,—Aitken Head, 15ft Sin, 1; Stirling, 2. Titg-oe-Wak (10 men a-side). — There wero only two teams for this evenb, which was won by a boam of married men againsb a beam of unmarried men. Mr A. Spiers, who made the besb aggregate in the various competibions, wins a gold medal.
