OUR BOWLERS.
(by telegraph.—special reporter.)
Napier, this day. TitE gathering of bowlers here is greater than we anticipated.
The Christcburch Club sends 2 team?, Gieborne 2, Auckland 3, Masterton 3, Wanganui 4, New Plymouth 4, Wellington 7, Napier supplies 11 ; in all, 37 teams, or 148 players. This means a lob of inter-club matches. Wβ are exercised to know how they can be gone through in the limited time at our disposal. The tournament is set down to commence to-morrow (Friday). Many of the visiting teams will not reach here untill this evening. The New Plymouth men have arrived. Ab a meeting of Auckland men held last night, we decided to play two matches to-day, if the management would allow this. We will know during the morning whether we shall be able to play against New Plymouth in the forenoon and Napier in the afternoon. We had some practice on the green yesterday. It is keener than that of Auckland, bare of grass in many places, and has other faults. Some experience is necessary to find out our chances. However, we should be as good in this respect as other visiting teams. When all tho bowlers arrive the hotols will be taxed to their utmost capacity. Our men have got comfortably quartered, being first here. The weather is perfect.
