THE EASTER HOLIDAYS.
GOOD FRIDAY.
To-moeeow (Good Friday) is the first day of the Easter holidays. The public schools "broke up" this afternoon for their usual Easter vacation, and various other institutions closed for the holidays. A number of holiday attractions are announced for Good Friday, Saturday, Eaßter Monday, including water excursions to-morrow and on Monday, horse races on Saturday and Monday, and several special Easter entertainments.
Special services with reference to the Easter season will be held in the city Anglican and Roman Catholic Churches tomorrow, and a United Methodist Convention is to take place, a camp meeting being held in the Western Park, while the evening meeting will take place in the Pittstreet Wesleyan Church. Amongst the outdoor attractions for to-morrow for those who do not exactly believe in the religious observance of Good Friday, the chief will be the Auckland Caledonian Society's sports at Lake Takapuna, and the drapers' annual picnic at Motutapu.
