UNIVERSITY SENATE.

Wellington, this day. At the University Senate, a committe was set up to consider tho question of omitting mechanics from the medical preliminary examination. A committee was also appointed to consider the suggested alteration in tho syllabus in biology. The committee on tho question of dentistry rocommended thab in consequence of the provisions of the Dontists Acb Amendmenb Act, 1891, the regulations in dentistry at page 106 of the calendar bo omitted. Tho report was adopted. The principal recommendations made by the committee in tho course in agriculture and engineering were agreed to. Dr. Grace gavo notice to move, " Thab a select committee be appointed to inquire into tho system of teaching afc the Agricultural College, Lincoln, during the recess, with a view of bringing up a report to tho Senate afc tho next; sitting.'' It was decided that anatomy and physiology be amongst the subjects in the natural science division of tho examination for the B.Sc. de_ree. The motion that a committee be appointed to consider whether ib is desirable to afford any special facility to public school teachers seeking admission to fche University was negatived. Dr. Grace's motion in reference to the appointment of a Select Committee to inquire into the systom of teaching at the Lincoln Agricultural College wa3 carried. The reporb ot tha Commibtee on the course in law was considered, and the degree of Bachelor of Laws conferred on Chas. Magnus Mowatt, B.A. It was decided that the following gentlemen be admitted to ad eundem degrees in the University of New Zealand :—S, T. Nevill, M.A., J. W. Joynt, M.A., XV. J. Will, M.A., H. S. Ferguson, M.A., W. Beabty, M.A,
