Sir,—l have been instructed by the Railway Commissioners to forward you tbe following notice for the information ot country settlers : — " It has come to the knowledge of the Railway Department that there have been inetatt-fes in which settlers have been charged railway rates by consignors ; greatly in excoss of the tariff rates, to the tass of the settlers, and tb the discredit of bhe railways."—l am, etc., C.
