The following jingle is apropos of the realism now in vogue, and applies especially to a nautical drama where the actor swims across the stage in a tank :— He had played with Booth and Irving. Knew Shakspere all by heart. Had sung in comic operas, Could (pantomime a part; An adept on the banjo, Could do a song and dance. Took tickets at the gallery door, And once went in advance: Was leading man for twenty years, And it seemed a shame to him To havo to throw a part up, just Because he couldn't swim.
