Ice Always Laid On.
A genuine novelty is offered to the public in the afternoon ab bhe Westminster Aquarium in the shape of a 'Crystal Ice' Rink, in which real ice is so artfully simulated by sciei cc !,!>al, even the test of skating on the medium is hardly sufficient to disillusionise the visitor us bo bhe realiby of bho Burface. 'Crystal Ice,' however, is not congealed water. Whab ib is, exacbly, matters to nobody but bhe inventor : bub Sic John Hollingshead, a director of tho now place of entertainment, well-known for his aversion to any sorb of imposition on bhe public, guarantees thab ib is a compound of certain chemical salts, resembling the solidified form of H2 01, bub differing widely from it in composition. The mixture is poured on in liquid form, and solidifies in bhe course of a few hour.3 ab a moderabely low temperature. Once in the solid etate, time, andjheat, and tho friction of gliding skates only servo to make ib firmer and . more durable. Skates cub deeply, however, and bhe surface will be renewed every week, a ton of bhe solution being poured over ib on Saturday night, and-jeft to solidify in time for opening on ' Monday,
