PAPAKURA RACING CLUB.
It would seem that the newly-formed Papakura Racing Club is to be a thoroughly bona fide country racing institution. All of the stewards live in and about the Papakura district, ami at present there are about 00 members on the books. A tender has been accepted for the new grand stand, and, the timber now being on the ground, work is to be commenced on Monday. The structure will bo a commodious one, .".ml the cost of erection will amount to £'260. Mr J. O. Evett has been appointed to frame tho handicaps for the meeting. Since the Auckland Racing Club passed the programme for the gathering to take place on the 1/th March, the bill of fare has been altered and tho stakes increased. The leading items are the Papakura Cup of 70sovs, 1J mile ; Handicap Steeplechase of 60,-jovs, about 3 miles; Handicap Hurdles of 55sovs, lj£ miles ; and Flying Stakes of 35*ovs, 6 furlongs. Nominations close with Mr W. L. Lockhart, the Secretary, on the 26th March or at Mr Blorafield's office, Durham-street.
