MOUNT ALBERT RATE PAYERS.
THE CITY REFUSE,
A public: meeting of ratepayers of the Mount Albert district was held last night. Mr Jas. R. Walters occupied the chair, and between thirty and forty ratepayers were present. In opening tho meeting, the Chairman spoke of several alleged mis-statemonts that had been made on previous occasions, and at the public mooting of ratepayers held about a fort.ni„h& ago. Some presenb at that meeting knew at the time that the whole matter had been placed in the hands of tho Board's solicitors. The Chairman also asserted that he had no interest in the rofuse being broughb oub to Mr Johnston, and was as much opposed to it aa anyone else. He then read the opinion of Davore and Cooper, the Board's solicitors.
Considerable discussion took place on the legal opinion, and eventually, on the motion of the Rev. Mr Larkins, seconded by Mr Owen McGinn, the following resolution was carried unanimously:—"That this meeting call upon the inhabitants of the district to support the Board in their efforts to prevent the ciby refuse being deposited in the district."
