PRESENTATIONS TO THE LIBRARY AND ART GALLERY.
An Irish halfpenny, dated 1783, has been presented to the Arb Gallery by Mr Stephen Mantelow. Professor Aldis has given a history of the Free Churches of England, by R. Skeates, to the Library, to which institution the following donations have also been made:—Mr T. F. Gooch, "Little Loo;" John Holdsworth.'.'Lady Maud ;" threenovels by Clarke Rußsell. Mr J. Brabazon :16 vols. shorthand books, 2 vols. Modern Greek, 1 vol. Schoolmaster. Dr. Laishley: Annual Statement Committees Education, U.S.A., 1891, part 1, Report Committees of Education, 1888-9, Sanitary Condition of School Houses, Rules for Dictionery Catalogue, Promotions and Examination in Graded Schools, Higher Education in Indiana, from the Government printing offices, Washington. The shorthand booka are somo of them interesting from their age. There i 3 a Phonographic Reporter, Pitman's, dated ISSI, and several books of phonography published from 1851 to 1855.
