GRAMMAR SCHOOL BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Grammar School Board was hold yesterday afternoon. Present : Colonel Haultain (presiding), Messrs J. M. Lennox, J. A. Tole, Rev. C. M. Nelson.
District Scholarships.—Tho Secretary of the Board of Education forwarded the Sesult of the recent scholarships examination, already published. It was agreed to offer free tuition to the four candidates for junior scholarships ■who gained the four highest certificatea of proficiency, in the firab instance for one year, renewable at the pleasure of the Board. Tho n»nw» are, . Mabol Crabtree, Florence J. Patterson, Richard Seccombe, Win. G. Tixeira. Foundation Scholarships. — Colonel Haultain, Messrs J. M. Lennox and J. A. Tole v/ero appointed a Committee to receivo and report on the junior foundation scholarships, and to determine who are the successful candidates. Repairs.— Fivo tenders were received for repairs to a house in Cracrofb-3treet, the lowest being Gedye and Calver, £18, and were referred to the Property Committee. Accounts. —Aecounfca amounting to £392 4s 5d were passed for payment.
