The Minister for Education has approved of the amended regulations for echolarship examinations, viz., that the age for future examinations shall be for junior scholarships under 14 ye«re ; for senior scholarships under 16 years at the time of entry.
The members and friends of the Otahnhu Band of Hope (_'ave a pleasing concert and entertainment in the Temperance Hall. There wnsa lavgeattendaneeand the following programme wae well received:—Children, "The Crystal Spring;" choir, selection; recitation, Grace Stringer ; solo, Mr Fairburn ; recitation, Laurie DoCarterei : reading, Mr Allan; duet, Misses Pikett and Whitburn; recitation, Amy Robinson; children, selection : recitation, Vincent Stringer; speech, Mr Tucker: solo, Mr McDonald ; recitation. E\a Robinson ; recitation, Emma Scurruh ; children, " Temperance Battle §ong." After the concert the following were elected office s for the ensuing year :— President, Rev. D. J. Steele ; Vice-presi-dents, Messrs Pikett and W. Tucker ; Superintendent, Mr E. Allan ; Secretary, Mr J. Andrew ; Treasurer, MrH. Stringer ; Choir Leader, Mies Burns ; Committee, Meedames Pikett, H. Stringer, Tucker, Knapping, H. Andrew, Miseos Dalton. Harrison Crow, Pike**, Meser* H. Audrfiir, E. Whitmora.
