The Auckland Swimming Ciub tuade a new and most successful departure from (.lie ordinary run of events in holding swimming contests at tho Albert-street Baths last"ovening.. Boys' Rack (under 15), 72yds.—Three boys started, and rnado a very close race, the result being :— J. N. Phillips (2sec), 1; P. Bailey (7sec), 2 ; hi. C. Cossar (scratch),

36yds Dash.—H. J. Bailey and M. Scott were the only competitors. Their task consisted of a dive and a spurt over one length of the bath. Bailey won rather easily, Scott taking a bad course. Time, 23sec.

Corfu Dive,—This evenb was contested by four nsen. The task set was to dive from the platform and ris& inside a ' floating life-buoy. After many failures, W. Denison was successful, C. W. Dalton making the next best attempt.

Siamese Race.—Two couples competed, and victory foil to tho lot oE H. Goldwater and J. R. Hooper. Their opponents were doings very well, xvhen they became unbound, aud had to discontinue.

Polo Match.—A water-polo match between City and North Shore teams brought tho programme of events to a conclusion. It excited a good deal of amusement, the result being a drawn game. An exhibition of fancy swimming by Professor Pannell brought tho. sports to an end.
