BUSH FIRES IN AUSTRALIA
Sydney, December 30. , Pitiable tales are coming in from the country as to the ravages of the bush fires. Many homesteads have been burnt. The wheat and bailey crops are suffering from scarcity o( water. The prevailing heat is excessive, and has reached neariy 120 in the shade out west. In Sydney to-day it was over 100.
