MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS,

Try Fluke.—The manager reports that the main reef ab No. 3 level varies from one to two feet, and carries fair prospects the whole way, some very good ore being occasionally obtained. The lode showe signs of opening oub in the roof of the drive, and the manager hopes to have a good block of payable ore in this part. The various stopes are turning out ore of avorape quality. The rise has holed through to the Kuaotunu winze. The crushing is still showing for a good return, there being lßooz of amalgam for the week from tho plates. Mariposa.—The manager reports thab the winze is now down 26 t'eeb and the proapoct3 are good and promise well for tho No. 2 level. All through tho mine the besc gold is gob on the hanging-wall, and should this prove so here a rich block ie being opened. Red Mercury.—The manager reports that tho amalgam on hand for the week amounted to 1660z from 00 tons of qunrU. The reof in tho north end low level is a splendid body of stone and promises well for the next level. In the south end it does not prospect quite so well. The scopes are all turning out a fair amount of payable quartz. Otajia,—The manager telegraphed today : " 41b specimens from the leading st.ope north." MoANATAiAiu. — The manager reports that the quartz from the Reuben Parr reef ab the intermediate level has shown strong colours of gold. A leader is lying olf into the fooCwall which may correspond with the flat lead. Better grado ore may, therefore, be obtained aa the stopeis advance. The flab lead is looking better in the stopes under tho 100 ft west of the south drive, and should continue to improve as the junction of the vertical lode is approached. The manager would not be surprised if bho lode burned out to be cho I hanging-wall rib of quartz of the Golden j Ago reef. In the eastern drive on the (jro'ldon Age reef at bho lOOlc level the men were engaged last week cutting through the hanging-wall. There is a strong band of quart?, here which may prove to be tho truo hanging-wail striking away back towards the south drive, In this gold has been freely seen, and driving has been commenced to ascertain its true value. A large supply of quartz i 3 coming to hand from the Poiut Russell lovol, but it shapes very poorly at the battery. There are on hand 105oz of amalgam and 151b of

picked stone. Ha/.etjUank.—The manager reports thai there has been more gold seen for the lasb few days in the stopes about the intermediate level. Tho leading stopo east is now near the point where the footwall and hanging-wall leaders should junction, and he therefore expects to get picked stono. Carbine.—The manager reports that! stopiug operations above No. 1 level have been attended with favourable results, j There is also a slight improvement in tho , block above No. 2, the body of crushing j bull' having increased in width. j May Quken t .—Tho No. 4 lode in the east I or liillward drive at No. 2 level, which narrowed down to two feet in thickness on Saturday, is now, if anything a trifle smaller. The country, however, is still good, and colours of gold are seen in the quartz.
