The Government troops have retaken Cbaoyang, and the rebels fled to the mountains. . . The French Minister in Pekin is menacing the Government unless the railway contracts are conceded to Frenchmen. Shanghai, December 5. The battle of Kinchow, on the 30th November, ended in a decisive victory for the Chinese. No quarter was given, and the wounded were beheaded. There was great carnage, and the fugitives took to the mountains. The total number of Christians massacred was 500. The British residents are safe.
