LIBERAL BANQUET.

,■■ •: . ; Masterton, this day..-. A. banquet to the Ministers and members of the Liberal party was given on Friday at Eketahuna. Forty persons were present. After supper speeches were delivered by the Minister for Justice, Mr T. L. Buick, and Mr A. W. Hogg, M.H.R.'s, and several other prominent Liberals of the district. Hon. Mr Reeves ascribed the withdrawal of English capital from the colony to the fact that the rates of interest were lower than before. Mr Buick explained the objects of the National Liberal Federation ab some length, and invited those present to join the organisation. The proceedings were brought to a close shortly after midnight.
