ST. MARY'S HIGH SCHOOL.
Last evening the annual entertainment by the junior pupils of St. Mary's High School took place, ab which there was a good attendance, notwithstanding the unpromising weather. The programme gone through was most effectively carried out, the instrumental music being particularly well rendered, and the singing was very creditable, the solo by Miss K. Hand being remarkably well sung. The duet, " Far Away," played on three pianos and harmonium, assisted by Misses Whit-ted and Hand on tho violin, was rendered wibh precision and taste by the following little ladies, Misses Stifcchbury. Lanigan, Mace, Corcoran, Rice, A. Courtney and L. Corcoran; as was also the duet, " Thy Voice is Near," by the little ladies. Mioses A. Courtney, Jones, Corcoran, A. Gillies, Dampier, C. Haven, and L. Corcoran. Miss Dampier, a child of tender years, performed hor solo on tbe violin in a surprising: manner. The song " Juanita " was sweetly suns by Mies Corcoran, accompanied by Miss Whifcsted on the guitar. "American Airs," played by Miss Masy, was pleasingly rendered. After fche musical selections, a very pretty drama, entitled "Little Prifc," wa3 acted in charming style, the characters being sustained byMias Masy (Little Prit). Miss Stichbury as the bad iairy, and Miss C. Hanen as the good fairy acted their parts admirably, while Miss A. Courtney as Lord Mayor pave importance to the whote piece. The Misses A. Gillies, Mace, M. Lanigan, and Stauntou were also successful in their different roles. A second drama, "Spell Bound,' followed, and in tho interlude, Miss Haven played "Home, Sweefc Home" in a highly finished style. The duet, " Bolero in A Minor ' was played by Misses Thomson, Ruthven, Haven, and Masy in a very spirited and finished style. Like fche preceding, this drama was meted in firsfc-rate style, the witch.- Mis 3F. McCabe, doing her parb to perfection, while the imps soemed to have entered heartily into the spirit of their characters. Misi A. Courtney here made an excellent King, while Miss K. Hand distinguished herself as Queen of the Fairies. Miss Plummer, as nurse, sustained her part well.and the little Queen, Miss Masy, acted the part in a very dignified manner, her royal consort, Miss A. Courtney, materially assisting her.
