THE V.R.C. DERBY.
Previous to bhe decision of bhe Caulfieid Guineas Mr W. R. Wilson's colt Strathmore had his name written to win the V.R.C. Derby for a few thousands at 100 to 8. In a cablegram to an Auckland friend, Mr Wilson thinks he can win tho Derby with either Strathmore or Zalinaki. There is every promise of a greab contest ab Flemington for this year's "classic" event, and despite Stromboli's defeat in tho Guineas last Saturday, his friends have since rallied round tho Chester colb, and 4 to lis the best offer against him. Oxide and Penance have both arrived at Flemington, and we expect some great changes in tbe betting market during tho next week or ten days. The following is the extended pedigree of Strathmore, the Derby favourite : —
