WRECK OF A STEAMER.
NOT THE CITY OF' ROME
FORTY-TWO DROWNED,
Londox, October 14. The statement that the Anchor Line pany'a City of Rome had been wrecked off the banks of Newfoundland was a mistake. It subsequeotly transpired the wreck was that of a cattle-steamer. A survivor' from tho wreck declares that ; forty-two were drowned. £ It is alleged the crew and officers we» drunk, but the whole story is doubted .
