Messes Huntek and Nolan's Report.— Grain, seeds, horse feed, etc. : The supplies have been ample, and there has existed a steady demand. We quote : Oats, Is 6d to 2a 3d per bushol; maize, 2a Id per bushel ; bran, £4 10a per ton ; chaff, £2 10s to £2 12s 6d per ton. Horses : The market has been more active than for some weeks, and a good many changed hands at prices in favour of vendore. There was a large muster at the Durham Yards. The obstructions having been removed and alterations completed, there was ample room for exhibition, and purchasers had the benefit of being able to make a good inspection. Competition was brisk throughout the sale, and almost without exception lots were cleared. We quote: Medium draught, £12 to £IG lGs ; draught colt, £14 to £15 10a ; light harness horses £5 10a to £11 10s ; hacks, £4 to £9 15s ; weeds, £1 17s to £3. Wool, hides, skine, tallow, bones, etc. : There was a fair number of hides and skins pitched, and an increased quantity of wool on Tuesday at the Durham Yards. Bonos were short of requirements, and there remains an unsatisfied demand. We. quote : Extra stout ox hides 5d to s|d per lb ; stout, 4d to 4jd ; medium, to 3fd ; cow and steer, lgd to 2fd ; calfskins, 3d per lb to s|d ; bones, £4 15s to £5 per ton ; tallow, 16s 6d to 19s per cwt; sheepskins, local, 4s lid to 6s 4d each ; country, Is 6d to 4s 10d ; lambekins, 9d to Is each ; lonjjwool, to 7£d oer-lb ; locks and pieces, 2M to 4d per lb.
Mb A. Bucia,AND Reports,—At fche Haymarket during the pasb week prices for fodder ranged from 9d to 2s 3d the cwfc ; maize, 2s Id ; oats, 2s the bushel ; chaff, £2 15a the ton. On Friday horse stock were ab lace values. A racing pony sold for £16 ; strong active horses, £11 to £14 ; those of medium quality, £6 to £9 each. At the hide and skin sale on Tuesday last week's values were fully kept, sound ox hides brought from 3Jd to 5Jd ; cow hides, 2Ad to 3id ; calf skins, 4£d to 6£d the lb ; tallow, 163 6d to 18s 3d tho cwt ; rough fat, l£d the lb ; bones, £4 153 the ton ; fresh skins, 4s to 5s 8d ; dry skins, Is 6d to 4s 6d ; lamb skins, 8d to Is 2d each ; wool in bales, 6fd to 7£d the lb. At the special sale of horses held in Potter's Paddock on Wednesday there was good competition throughout the auction ; prices ranged from £4 to £15, the greater number between £7 to £9 each.
W. J. Huntjsr reports :—At Ohaupo on Tuesday, October 13bh, I had the largesb and beat sale of cattle there has been held for several years past. Out of fully 500 head only 2 pens remained unsold. Buyere were in attendance from Thames, Raglan, Shafteebury, Whangaroa, and local districts. The cattle were exceptionally well-bred and quiec, bidding was brisk throughout the sale, and very satisfactory prices obtained, which wera as follows : Steer calves and yearlings, £110 ato £118s ; heifer calves and yearlings, 16s to 30s: 1£ to steers, £2 10s to £3 6s ; 4-year-old stesra in fresh condition, £5 to £5 7s and £5 15s respectively; speyed' 3-year-old hoifers, £2 18s; speyed cows, £2 158 to £3 ss; fafc heifers and cowa, about 70 head sold at from £3 5s to £5 2s, or about 15s to 16s per 1001b ; ewes in lamb in full wool, 16s 9d; hoggeb9, 11s each.
