THE HAKARAU EXHUMATION.

PARENTS ARRESTED,

The inquesb on the body of Georgo Thomas, the boy whose remains were recently exhumed ab Hakarau, occupied bwo days, and was nob concluded until 10 o'clock on Wednesday nighb. Tne verdict was as follows : —" Thab bhe said George JV Thomas was on bhe 21sb of Sepbember, and for a long time previously, suffering from hip disease, and thab from exhaustion arising therefrom, accelerated by insufficient and improper food supplied; by the parents, and from other improper' treatment,the said George J. Thomas did on the said day fall down, and after lingering for about 16 hours did die on the 22nd of September, and nofc from any ofcher cause within the knowledge of the jurors."" Constable Abrams arrested the boy's father and stepmother. Inspector Broham states they will be charged with murder, and ib will bo open to the Bench bo commit eibhGi* for murder, manslaughter, or for wilful ill-treabmenfc of children under the Children's Protection Act. As the R.M., Mr H. XV. Bishop, will be in thab neighbourhood on Saturday, no doubb bhe case will be broughb before him. The boy's sisber, aged seven years, is also suffering from hip disease. She is in bhe,care of Miss Tutin, at boarding school.
