LABOUR DEMONSTRATION DAY.
(To the Editor.) Sii!|- —Noticing that a meeting is called for this evening in connection with tho above, kindiy permit my suciyestiog to thq Conimitteo bho advisability ot substituting "November 9th for October 28tli, tho dato proposed. 1 do so for these reasons :— To make the demonstration tho.sucoess all would like to see it, it ia important to have the goodwill o£ all sections oi tho community. Asking for a public holiday eleven clays prior to a recognised holiday, is not a step likely to secure that goodwill. A feeling of irritation is aroused when thero ia no rioerl of so doing-. To carry oub a demonstration with these fcakiug part in it, away irani work witbonb leave, cr leave grudffhigly given, is not tho way to promote ''the reconciliation of ail classes." IN timbers and enthusiasm are absolutely necessary for an outdoor demonstration ; donations for prizes, etc., aro equally necessary ; thoso are more likely to be {riven if a day is chosen that all look forward to as a holiday, and which in devoid of any special feature of public interest. My only reason tor calling attention to the matter thus eariy is that every hindrance to the thorough success of the movement may be removed.—l am, etc., Wkll-avisiiek.
