FIRE IN SYDNEY.

Sydney, this day.

A large fire occurred at six this morning and is still burning. It is, however, now confined to Messrs McLean Brothers' and Riggs' four-storey ironmongery warehouse in Georgestreet, the premises where it originated. It has completely destroyed a small building adjoining. The amounts of damage and insurance are not yet known. The fire was subdued shortly after nine. Large quantities of; explosives were stored in the building,, including many hundreds of loaded cartridges. Peppi's (the draper) and Hank's (the grocer) shops were completely gutted.
