A deputation of representatives of the coast counties of the South Island waited on the Premier relative to the breakdown or the county system for want of funds, vvhicli is attributed to the abolition of rating on Crown lands and gold duty. They asked to have the Act amended to enable them to tax vehicles, whether plying for hire or nob, and also for advances against the revenue.
